Arrived from Hong Kong to Malaysia. Enjoyed a couple of days taking in the sights, sounds and smells of KL. Took walking tours through old Colonial KL, Little India and China Town and headed up the KL Tower for views over the city. We managed to squeeze in the sky walk between the Petronas Towers.
Above: This year Malaysia are celebrating 50 years on Independence from British rule. We visited the national museum and learnt of the colonial occupation of Malaysia, from the Portuguese, to Dutch and finally British rule. The Malaysian people are very focused of prosperity and growth and are very proud of their achievements over the past 50 years, symbolised by the Petronas Towers.
The scene above, from the museum, looks over a cricket green and the exclusive ex-pat Hawkes and Harriers club of colonial times. The British flag was lowered and Malaysian flag raised in 1957.
